The 3 day event kicks off this weekend starting Sept. 30th, 2016 to Oct. 2nd, 2016 at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown, PA. ArtsFest 2016 features just over 300 artists, vendors, musicians, buskers and performers. The best part is admission is FREE, even the entertainment.
This year features 3 stages of entertainment. The ArtsFest Main Stage will showcase a diverse range of touring bands as well as local performers. The Social Medium stage will host stand-up comedians, spoken word, improv, underground theater and film screenings. The Tape Swap Radio Stage, drawing from the eclectic DIY music scene in the Lehigh Valley, will feature over a dozen acts throughout the weekend including Lehigh Valley avant-garde drone jazz band, Pink Hex.
The ‘Graffiti Jam’ section, curated by Meano, will once again feature break dancing, DJs, & graffiti artists. Large panels will be painted live by some of the most celebrated graffiti artists on the east coast, including; Meano, Else, Joe Oner, Deco, Sicks, Mek One, See TF, Distort, Acroe, Yes, Menas, SNX, Dafse, Jerms, Topaz, Demer, Kenji, Meres, Grym, and Feln. The panels will be left up and displayed during the festival and will later be installed throughout the city of Allentown.
There will be numerous food vendors on site for those looking to get some great food; Puerto Rican Cultural Preservation, Big Poppa’s BBQ, Gosia’s Pierogies, Coffee House Without Limits
just to name a few. Other vendors will be set up through out the festival such as Sons of Allentown, Lehigh Valley Phantoms, LVAC (Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations) and many more. There will also be a few non-profit organizations from the Lehigh Valley including; Pig Placement Network, LV Girls Rock, Goddard School, Community Partners 4 Kids, and the Civic Theater.
There will be many activities to participate in such as the ‘Alternative Clubhouse’ section of the festival will offer fun and unique art making activities & demonstrations for kids. Local non-profit LV Girls Rock will feature a weekend long ‘LV Kids Rock’ camp, in which participants will get to learn to write an original song and explore the songwriting process. Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations will have a screen printing press on site to demonstrate the screen printing process and create one of a kind shirts for festival goers. For the grown up don’t worry, Shangy’s will be on site with their refrigerated truck, hosting several local breweries and over a dozen craft brews in the ‘Brewhalla’ section. The Skate Park area will feature demos & contests by Homebase and Lost Soul Skateboards.
The hours of the festival start this Friday Sep. 30th: 4 PM – 11 PM, Saturday Oct. 1st: Noon – 11 PM, Sunday Oct. 2nd: 11 AM – 8 PM. Parking is available off Ott St. entrance of the park by the pool and also all the way out Parkway Blvd.
