New Jersey’s latest rapper to blow is Coi Leray. The Bergan County rapper has been making a lot of noise lately in the Hip Hop community. Some of her latest accomplishments from 2018 include two smash hit singles “Huddy” and “By Myself.” She also earned herself an opening slot for Gucci Maine and a tour spot with Trippie Red. With the release of her latest album “EC2” which is a follow up EP to her mixtape “Everything CoZ.”
Since her first hit single “G.A.N.”, Coi Leray has not looked back since. Her single “Huddy” reached over 1 million views in just three short months. Much of her success comes from the fact she has been riding with the same team since day one. Quoted to Billboard, Coi Leray stated “You need a strong team.”
She is still winning in 2019, landing a placement on the soundtrack for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse; with the track “Save the Day” featuring Ski Mask the Slump God, Jacquees, and LouGotCash. She has also gotten a lot of attention and cosigns from Rob Markman’s “For The Record” and Hot 97 “Who’s Next?”. Her grind and passion finally paid off when she inked a deal with Republic Records earlier this year (2019). In an exclusive interview with Billboard Coi Leray stated her reasoning for signing with Republic.
“It’s just such a blessing to have. At the end of the day, I met with a lot of great A&R’s and great CEO’s, but what stuck out to me about Republic is how genuine it was,” Leray tells Billboard about her decision. “Monte and Avery [Lipman] are still in their chairs since they started the company. You got real CEO’s that have a real connection to this music because they’ve been doing it for so long.”
